Ford Ireland supporting the community and volunteer effort

inNews

Mayo Volunteer Centre was delighted to team up with Ford Ireland recently, who, with the help of Cullen Communications, provided the Centre with a fabulous Ford Fiesta van for use by volunteers in the community.

The van has been put to good use by the Moy Valley Over 55s Club, who are using the van to collect and drop shopping, prescriptions and other essentials to over 50 people who are cocooning all around Ballina and North Mayo.

Pictured is Moy Valley CSP Over 55s Club manager Louise Gilmartin, pictured last week dropping groceries to Margaret Doyle.

The Over 55s club in turn has teamed up with local social enterprise, Ballina Costume Company, who would normally be flat out at this time of year creating costumes for festivals and theatre productions. The machinists in Ballina Costume Company have been redeployed, and are now busy creating scrubs and masks for frontline workers, along with a team of volunteers. The Over 55 Club team and volunteer drivers have been helping them to transport material and deliver finished products to workers all around Mayo.

A great example of collaboration between community organisations and the best of volunteerism in action!

Volunteer Sharon McGinty makes a special delivery!

A big thank you to Ford Ireland for their generosity, and to Cullen Communications  for their kindness.
